Review of FIASCO by Thomas E. Ricks

My review of Tom's definitive book on the Iraq fiasco, up at ePluribus Media Journal.

I liked it. I really liked it a lot.

Thanks Jeff. Was interested when I saw Ricks appear on The Daily Show, and thumbed through it before in Barnes and Noble. I'll have to make sure to pick it up next time.

In a totally unrelated note, well semi-unrelated. Last night on the show that comes on after Countdown they ran a piece on how The Daily Show is ruining America and causing young voters to be apathetic. The host also blasted Stewart for being "left minded" (like there are NO shows that are RIGHT minded...hello! BILL O'REILLY) anyway being a 21 year old, the Daily Show has gotten me into politics. Don't want to go on a rant, just putting that out there.

  2. John,

This bum's rush on Stewart is nothing new. There's been a similar sort of thing going on in Britain for some time now, and, indeed, it's been going on here too.

Same old wheeze. Political satirists make people, especially young people, cynical and apathetic about politics.

And who's doing the complaining? The politicians.

Deny, delay, divert, find a scapegoat, make somebody else responsible. It's not the politicians' fault they're ludicrous, it's the fault of those darn old satirists who point out how ludicrous they are.
