I'm of the opinion that it it's mostly just smoke to keep people's eyes off of the battle to get the PSA rammed through the Iraqi parliament. That doesn't seem to be going well either. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Iraqi oil renationalized when we leave anyways, so it might be a futile effort from the start.

The Neo-Con answer to peak oil was to grab all that remains. The purpose will not to be to show progress in the way a reasonable person would define it. Nor will it play up the fact that whatever progress has been achieved will be in spite of the Iraqis, not because of them. They will still be as useless as they ever have been.

No rather what they will want to do is to create enough quotes and sound bites that Bush and conservative politicians and bloggers can grab on to, such that it will enable Bush to continue to divide and conquer by discreditign his critics.

The best thing that could happen now. The British PM deciding to withdraw all British troops as a way of showing both Britian and the US that he is not Bush's poodle.Skippy-sanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05115988855323925228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12796551.post-42017493666770617162007-05-29T19:15:00.000-04:002007-05-29T19:15:00.000-04:00Thanks for stopping by and comenting, Fubar. Petraeus and Odierno (and most of the brass) seem to be more interested in getting their next promotion, no matter what the cost to the troops on the ground. It's pretty obvious that the administration and our elected so-called leaders in Congress only care about filling their own coffers with lobbyist money and the winning the next election.

I'm starting to think it's a sucker's game to "support the troops." And maybe it's only prolonging the agony.

Thanks for your insightful posts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
